A major womenswear conglomerate is relocating from Luton to Islington as part of a corporate shake-up.

The merger between Jacques Vert Group and Irisa Group has made 40 staff redundant, including 29 compulsory redundancies. The remaining 104 employees will now make the move to the company’s new head office at 46 Colebrooke Row.

Its central Angel location is based a street away from Islington’s Business Design Centre and tucked behind upmarket high-street brand Reiss on Essex Road.

Other companies situated along the distinguished street include Peter Brades Architects, IPA employment consultants Lamberts Chartered Surveyors and cocktail bar, 69 Colebrooke Row.

The merger earlier this year between Irisa (formerly Alexon Group) and Jacques Vert by private equity owner Sun European Partners saw Irisa’s plus size brand Ann Harvey scrapped.

Despite this brands including Windsmoor, Precis, Planet, Eastex, Jacques Vert, Alexon, Minuet and Kaliko were retained by the group.

Newly appointed chief executive Teresa Tideman joined this month from Disney Stores Europe, where she was senior vice president and joint managing director.

Tideman said the Jacques Vert brand had “great potential for further growth”.

“The team will be focused on product and channel development as we continue to build a strong platform for our business for the future,” she added.

The group is said to be appointing a multichannel director and a design director within the next month.

Mark Aldridge, who has been a consultant for Jacques Vert since the beginning of the year, is now group marketing director and responsible for the business’s marketing, visual merchandising, PR and marketing e-commerce.

Aldridge has previously worked for brands including The Open University and Disney.
